JOHN CARLSON



adjunct Theater Faculty

John Carlson teaches Theatre Education, Theatre History, and the Introduction to Theatre Distance Education courses for the School of Theatre and Dance at East Carolina University (Greenville, NC).  He received his BA in Communications from Salisbury State University (Salisbury, MD), his MFA in Acting from Western Illinois University (Macomb, Illinois) and his NC State Teacher's License, K-12 from East Carolina University.


John has toured the Midwest with a children’s theatre company through WIU. At ECU, he has performed in The Tempest, Oklahoma, Cabaret, The Underpants, Kiss Me, Kate! and others. In the summers of 2009, 2010 and 2011 John taught ECU students in Italy for the College's Italy Intensive Program. During this time students visited Rome, Certaldo, Sienna, Pisa, Florence, Venice as well as many other Italian cities. In summer 2016 and 2017 he will teach an acting and theatre history course in Seoul, South Korea at Hanyang University.
