World Premiere of Mason Theater Faculty Play

March 14, 2019

Heather McDonald and Sherrice Mojgani play

A play by Mason professor, Heather McDonald, with lighting by professor Sherrice Mojgani, is currently running at Signature Theatre: Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Not only do they work together in an academic setting, but collaboratively in the professional world as well. Two of Mason’s School of Theater professors have their work showcased at the Tony Award-winning Signature Theater located in Arlington.

Playwright, Heather McDonald has written the original play entitled Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity (February 26 – April 7, 2019). Designer, Sherrice Mojgani designed the lighting for the production. This is the world premiere of the show.

Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity tells of three women—an art restorer, her nurse and their military captor—trapped in a ravaged museum during a catastrophic hundred years war. Tasked with restoring a damaged Rembrandt painting, the women find common shreds of humanity as they try to save a small symbol of beauty in their broken world.
