January FOTM Newsletter from the President

Welcome to the spring semester. If you have read Kevin Murray’s article in this newsletter you can see what a very busy and exciting season we have in store. As always, the line-up is challenging and varied and is sure to showcase the talents of our students. They always amaze and astound me.

Please be watching for invitations to special events coming up; everything from first readings, to a fundraiser dinner with star Lisa Vroman, to sharing chili and conversation with the Mason Players. Are you interested in taking a peek behind the curtain and touring the scene shop or the costume shop? That could happen if there is interest, so let us know what you might like to do. As the Mason Players shirts say, “What Part Will You Play?” That is the fun of being a Friend of Theater – you get to really play a part in this wonderful endeavor.

But most of all, put all the performances on your calendar, come see the shows, and bring a friend. Remember our two main missions are raising awareness of Theater at Mason and raising funds for scholarships.

Speaking of scholarships, it is my pleasure to share with our loyal Friends that thanks to the generosity of all of you, the Friends of Theater at Mason has awarded 6 scholarships to the following outstanding students: Alana Lyons, Esteban Marmolejo-Suarez, LaNyce Rogers, Amelia McGinnis, Hasan Crawford, and Cristina Casais. We will be asking these fine young people to share a little of their stories in future newsletters. But in the meantime, be sure to check the credits in the playbills as you attend performances to see what they are up to at Mason.

Sincerely,

Paulette Miller, President
