With our professional faculty, proximity to D.C.'s vibrant arts culture, and invigorating offering of courses and opportunities, Theater at Mason is the place to be!

STUDY WITH GUEST ARTISTS
The Professional Artist Resident in Theater (P.A.R.T.) initiative brings professionals to Mason as Faculty and Guest Artists, offering Master classes, workshops, special events and courses that fulfill the Major requirements. Above, the actor Stacey Keach can be seen teaching a class.

GET PERSONAL ATTENTION
At Mason, you'll experience a focused School of Theater with 140 Theater majors within a large State University setting.

ACCESS TO A VIBRANT THEATER SCENE
You'll study just 20 miles from the vibrant Washington, D.C. theater scene which is the 2nd largest in the US. Only New York is larger.

STUDY WITH THEATER PROFESSIONALS
Each Faculty member in the department is a working professional – actors, directors, designers, playwrights, dramaturgs – who connect our students to the professional scene whenever possible.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN CAREER
Theater at Mason offers both a BA in Theater, with concentrations in Performance, Writing, Design & Tech, Theater Education, and Musical Theater, and a BFA in Stage & Screen, offering concentrations in Performance, Writing, Design & Tech, and Musical Theater!

BE A PART OF IT
The Mason Players student theater company produces 7 shows per year. At least half of them are student-directed, and one features original work by our students. There are hundreds of opportunities to get involved, and all are open to freshmen.

STUDY AND PERFORM IN BEAUTIFUL SPACES
Our theater students perform at three major theaters on our campuses: the Center for the Arts, Harris Theatre, and the Hylton Performing Arts Center (pictured above) as well as the smaller, more intimate TheaterSpace in the deLaski Performing Arts Building.

FREE TICKETS
The Center for the Arts offers free student tickets to most events held in our 1900-seat Concert Hall.
